Letter from the President

Mona-BoudreauxIt is springtime and winter is finally over. The snow has melted and everywhere we see plants starting to grow, knowing they will bloom big and beautiful. We look around at all the changes occurring during winter and know many more are coming in the spring. The same is happening for the AHVMA. The Board of Directors, committees and multiple task forces have accomplished more than we thought was possible, with many more beautiful changes coming our way.

As I count down the last 6 months of my presidency, I feel an even stronger momentum to achieve the goals and dreams of our members. Many of us are diligently working to complete tasks on our strategic plan. This fun and engaging group makes me proud to be an AHVMA member. Allow me to share some of these accomplishments, as well as what we are working on now. Continue reading

The 2015 Annual Conference will be held in Augusta, Georgia on October 17 – 20, 2015. This conference is also the 30 year celebration of the AHVMA, and is an event not to be missed. The 30th Annual AHVMA Conference will be held October 17-20, 2015, at the Augusta Marriott.

The lovely Savannah river, in the heart of the city, courses through Augusta’s Riverwalk. Letter from the President

BarbaraRoyalAs President of the AHVMA, I thank you for your continued support of our organization in these exciting times of change.

I appreciate everyone’s hard work in maintaining a holistic perspective. Your individual dedication and successes every day make our mission vital, relevant and more achievable than ever.

We began 2014 with quite a splash. At the AVMA Leadership Conference and House Of Delegates (HOD) Winter Session, we participated in our first full voting session as delegates. Our voice, opinion and vote were heard. We won both holistic medicine resolutions; the anti-homeopathy bill was defeated, and the American Academy of Veterinary Acupuncture was accepted as the newest HOD voting member. Because of the AHVMA’s active role in the House of Delegates, over 90% of the AVMA delegate votes were in our favor. It was thrilling to feel the wave of support for our membership from our conventional colleagues.

An increasing number of holistic and integrative lectures are now accepted for Continuing Education credit in many states. The AHVMA will continue to lead the movement for our members’ right to learn and be credited for our knowledge.

These successes come on the heels of tremendous opportunities we’ve created in research, funding, and integrative education in many veterinary schools. Continue reading
