conventioncenternightRegistration is now open for the 2015 AHVMA Annual Conference.

The 2015 Annual Conference will be held in Augusta, Georgia on October 17 – 20, 2015. This conference is also the 30 year celebration of the AHVMA, and is an event not to be missed. Nestled on the banks of the Savannah River, Augusta offers opportunities for hiking, kayaking, and canoeing. Augusta boasts an array of music venues, over 300 local restaurants, as well as Museums of Art and History.

This year we are doing something a little different: we will be pre-registering all Exhibitor hosted Breakfast Meetings at the AHVMA Annual Conference. This will benefit our exhibitors and attendees, ensuring exhibitors a full audience and enabling YOU to sign up for your favorite meeting(s) even if you aren’t the first attendee on site.

Space is limited, so please sign-up early to reserve your seat. Continue reading

2015 AHVMA Conference Dates Announced

augustaJoin us for our 30th Annual Conference in the heart of the South, beautiful Augusta Georgia.

The 30th Annual AHVMA Conference will be held October 17-20, 2015, at the Augusta Marriott.

Experience the best of the South in Augusta, home of the prestigious Masters® Golf Tournament! Founded as a trading post during the British colonial period, the city showcases Antebellum mansions, hallowed historic sites, and quiet, tree-lined avenues perfect for relaxing strolls.

The lovely Savannah river, in the heart of the city, courses through Augusta’s Riverwalk. On Saturday mornings, visit the Augusta Market on the River to find locally grown produce, fresh baked goodies, locally roasted coffee and regional artisans. You can also hop on the Patriot Riverboat for a tour down the river or browse the galleries and shop at the Morris Museum of Art.

As the second oldest city in Georgia, Augusta is steeped in history. Interested in Civil War history? Check out Magnolia Cemetery, the resting place of more than 300 Confederate soldiers and 7 generals.

Enjoy unique local restaurants, live music, and dancing, part of Augusta’s vibrant nightlife.

The Savannah River also offers abundant opportunities to kayak, canoe, fish, or enjoy a boat ride. Take a sunset or music cruise, or just enjoy a nice hike along the banks.

We hope you’ll join us for another unforgettable conference experience!

Letter from the President

BarbaraRoyalAs President of the AHVMA, I thank you for your continued support of our organization in these exciting times of change.

I appreciate everyone’s hard work in maintaining a holistic perspective. Your individual dedication and successes every day make our mission vital, relevant and more achievable than ever.

We began 2014 with quite a splash. At the AVMA Leadership Conference and House Of Delegates (HOD) Winter Session, we participated in our first full voting session as delegates. Our voice, opinion and vote were heard. We won both holistic medicine resolutions; the anti-homeopathy bill was defeated, and the American Academy of Veterinary Acupuncture was accepted as the newest HOD voting member. Because of the AHVMA’s active role in the House of Delegates, over 90% of the AVMA delegate votes were in our favor. It was thrilling to feel the wave of support for our membership from our conventional colleagues.

An increasing number of holistic and integrative lectures are now accepted for Continuing Education credit in many states. The AHVMA will continue to lead the movement for our members’ right to learn and be credited for our knowledge.

These successes come on the heels of tremendous opportunities we’ve created in research, funding, and integrative education in many veterinary schools. Continue reading
