The Council of Elders (COE) is a committee consisting of members who have been practicing holistic veterinary medicine for a long time and who are considered wise teachers/mentors for the AHVMA in general. The purpose of the COE is to provide spiritual guidance and advice to those who seek their counsel. They also present a lecture/discussion session at the annual AHVMA conference as well as sponsor and organize a spiritual retreat for AHVMA members and their families immediately before or after the annual conference. A member of the Council of Elders starts off each day of the annual conference with an inspirational prayer or ceremony that helps get our minds and spirits awakened to begin our period of learning in the right mode.
