Being a small office, we get to do a little bit of everything, including membership processing, conference preparations, Journal advertising, website maintenance, referral directory updates, and Association email. Every day offers new and exciting challenges and learning experiences. We enjoy working with all of you, and we will be ready and willing to help in any way.

Interim Executive Director: Lauana Paradine

Lauana first joined the AHVMA staff in April 2013, and we are thrilled to have her back as our Interim Executive Director after a brief hiatus, during which she served as the Executive Director of the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Foundation.

Lauana holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology as well as associate’s degrees in both Music and Graphic Design Media.  She has a strong clerical and technological background, and she previously worked for a veterinary office for four years in an administrative capacity. Lauana has also volunteered for her local animal shelter, working with the feline population.

Being a life-long animal lover with a long-time interest in holistic treatments herself, Lauana enjoys working with an organization and community that promotes the use of these modalities in animals. Lauana grew up on a small farm in a tiny town in Minnesota, with an assortment of horses, pigs, cows, chickens, cats, and dogs.  She now lives with her family and menagerie of critters, both wild and tame, on a few acres she has loving titled “Rabies Ranch” (no actual rabies, so far).

Operations Director: Melissa Kellagher

Melissa has a bachelors degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Management. She has spent the last 6 years working in a veterinary clinic as a receptionist and in an administrative role. She was born and raised in Maryland, by her parents with her 4 brothers and sisters.

Melissa enjoys spending her free time with her husband and son, as well as her two dogs, Watson and Holmes. She also enjoys doing puzzles, going on walks, and spending time with her large extended family.
